Poetry in motion
Anthony Nichols
I wanted to express my gratitude to all members of the staff that assisted me in my recovery from August 25 – September 13, 2012. If it wasn’t for your support, positive reinforcement and cheerful outlook, I would have never had the opportunity to see your poetry in motion.
I personally took a turn for the worse and ended up in ICU from August 26 – September 12 in an induced coma. The day and night staff were constantly professional, especially Alison, who helped not only me, but all my family and friends by providing a calming presence.
I am extremely grateful for Alison’s constant communication with my daughter, Melissa, my son, Anthony, my brother, Joe, and the rest of my family. She and the other nurses provided my family with reassurance and knowledge of my condition, providing them with a sense of comfort and ease no matter what the potential outcome may have been.
During my time in my induced coma, I have brief memories of the nurses and Alison performing their duties, supporting me, always being there and making sure I wasn’t alone during this difficult time. I cannot express how important you all were to my continued recovery.,/p>
I was provided the best care possible, proven by the fact that I am here today to write this letter to all of you. I feel at times the Ontario doctors and nurses, including all support staff, do not get the true credit they deserve. My recovery is a testament to the impressive support I have received from all of you.
In closing, I have developed an incredible respect for the difficult daily tasks you are all faced with and I have so much respect for the way you supported my family and friends and have provided me with a second chance to live life to its fullest.
If I can assist in any regard, please feel free to contact me either by phone or email. I can assure you I will be available at a moment’s notice.
